A modern burlesque show!

Why a Burlesque show?

If you have found this blog by following the link from our myspace page,, then you already know why.

If you found us some other way then here’s the scoop.

In June of 2007 a friend and I joined a group on facebook that was encouraging supporting our Canadian troops fighting in Afghanistan by posting pinup photo’s reminiscent of those that were popular during the second world war. My friend, Jenn, decided to take this a step further and began to organize a rather large, one day photo shoot blitz. I have a background in fashion so I offered to help with costumes and my husband is a budding photographer so he volunteered to take some photo’s. All in all, we had around 20 models, 3 photographers and a very crazy, though successful day.

The intent was to edit and print these photo’s to send directly to the men and women serving overseas but we were lacking the funds. We then organized a second photo shoot and charged a fee to our models, photographers and makeup artist to help cover the cost of food and hopefully make some money to pay for our project. Well the saying goes “you learn something new everyday” and what we learned is that it is expensive to hold a photo shoot.

Our next initiative was to set up a shop. You can visit it at . We raised some money from there but we needed more. Our goal is to provide a minimum of 10 photo’s per soldier serving in Afghanistan but its a rather large number!

So the burlesque idea finally came to fruition. We have been working hard over the last couple of months and things are coming together. Please visit the performers pages and be sure to buy your ticket soon! The show is July 12 at the Registry Theatre in Kitchener
